World Single Distance Championships - Heerenveen.
Denny Morrison, in the final event of the season, won Gold in the 1500m and was 4th in the 1000m. Awesome finish to the season, Denny!
 
Canada West Championships - Winnipeg.
Another great event for BC skaters! 32 skaters won 69 medals!
 
11 year old females: Brianna Utas - 3rd overall with Silver medal in the 200m and Bronze medal in the1500m
Renee Kalkman - bronze medals in the 200m and 400m.
12 year old females: Connie Kapak won Gold medals in all 4 distances to finish 1st overall.
Madison Karpes placed 2nd overall with three 2nd place finishes and one 3rd place finish.
Dallas Hawkes won Bronze  medals in both the 200m and 400m.
The 11/12 year old female team won Gold in the relay event.
 
13 year old females:  Callie Swan placed 1st overall winning Gold in the 400m and 3000m and Silver in the 200m
Dominque Hawkenson placed 2nd overall with a Gold medal in the 400m and Silver in the 3000m.
Bekky Clemons won Bronze medals in the 200m, 400m and 1500m.
14year old females: Carolina Hiller won Gold medals in all 4 distances to finish 1st overall.
Alison Desmarais won Silver medals in the 200m and 400m and a Bronze medal in the 1500m
The 13/14 year female relay teams won both Gold and Bronze medals.
 
13 year old males: Cormac Chui won Gold medals in all 4 distances to finish 1st overall.
Alexander Chiwasky won Bronze in the 3000m
The 12/13 year boys team won Gold in their relay.
 
14 year old males: Nicolas Hiller finished 1st overall with  Gold medals in the 1500m and 3000m and Silver in the 200m and Bronze in the 400m.
Connor Meeks finished 2nd overall with Gold in the 200m and 400m and bronze in the 3000m.
Justin Cross finished 3rd overall with Silver medals in both the 1500m and 3000m along with a Bronze medal in the 200m.
Justin Russell won Silver in the 400m and Bronze in the 1500m
15 year old males: Connor Johnson  finished 1st overall with Gold medals in the 1500m and 3000m,
Christopher Poljer-So a Silver medal in the 1500m and Bronze medals in the 200m and 400m finished 3rd overall
Maxwell Wildstar  won Gold in the 400m and Silver in the 3000m
The 14/15 year old boys won Gold in their relay.
 
 
Canadian Short Track Championships - Richmond
Michelle Mackay with Gold medals in the 1000m, 1500m and 3000m to finish 1st overall in the Junior A female catgegory.
Kaelin McNally won a bronze medal in the 500m.

BCSSA CWG Coaching Pool Announcement
Congratulations to Sandi Vyse, Richard Stickel, Keith Gordon and Erin Copeland, who were the successful applicants for the 2015 Canada Winter Games Coaching Pool (CP). The CP Coaches will work with the Technical Director to identify potential CWG athletes and provide coaching support/programming for those athletes over the next three seasons. More information will follow!

BCSSA is pleased to announce that SSC ODC has recommended Stuart Gibbs be recognized by ISU as an ISU International Referee in Short Track. This is the first time in BC that a Short Track Referee has been recommended at this level.
We are also very pleased to announce George Moore and Maurice Legros have also been recommended to be upgraded to ISU International Starters in Short Track.
Our congratulations to all three for being recognized for their dedication and skills with these recommendations to ISU.

Feedback from the consultations helped form the basis of a discussion paper "Towards a Renewed Canadian Sport Policy".
